Overnight Bites That Are Not From Bed Bugs
September 14, 2016

When you wake up in the morning to find bug bites on you, most of us are inclined to freak out and believe our homes have been infested by bed bugs. I know I've done that numerous times, and later found that I didn't have bed bugs at all. There are many other insects that might bite you during the night other than bed bugs.

When you wake up in the morning to find bug bites on you, most of us are inclined to freak out and believe our homes have been infested by bed bugs. I know I've done that numerous times, and later found that I didn't have bed bugs at all. There are many other insects that might bite you during the night other than bed bugs. So, calm down and take another look before you rush off to rid your home of bed bugs that don't exist. Some mosquitos bite at night, especially if it is warm out and they are able to find a way inside your home. Their bites look very similar to bed bug bites also. Another possible culprit is the bat bug. They are similar to bed bugs, but only hang out where there are bats. There main food source is bats, so if you've got these, then the best way to get rid of them is to get rid of the bats that are no doubt lurking somewhere nearby. Mites and fleas can also bite you at night and be mistaken for bed bug bites. Obviously, if you've got fleas, then the best way to treat that is to get your pet treated for fleas. With mites, you'll want to make sure your home is rodent-free and discourage birds from nesting too close to your house. As you can see there are many possible alternatives to bed bugs, so make sure you double check before automatically assuming the worst. Have you ever thought you had bed bugs only to discover it was another insect that bit you?
