Termite pest control

Termites feed on wood, compromising the structural integrity of homes and buildings. A termite infestation is a serious threat to home and business owners and can lead to expensive repairs. At GGA Pest Management, we specialize in exterminating various termite species, from subterranean to drywood termites.

We address current infestations and prevent future ones with advanced detection and treatment techniques. For expert termite pest control, you can count on our team to protect your property from termite damage.

Problems caused by termites:

Termites pose a serious threat to properties and health. As small as they are, the damage they cause can be extensive. Homeowners and businesses often underestimate the impact of these pests until they face the consequences directly.

...
Structural Damage

Termites feed on wood and cellulose materials, including structural timbers, wooden beams, and furniture. Over time, this leads to compromised foundations, walls, and beams. Early detection and treatment are important because the damage is often hidden until it becomes large-scale.

...
Financial Costs

Termite damage can be expensive to repair and it is not usually covered by homeowners insurance. Homeowners may need to replace damaged structural components, repair or replace infested furniture, and invest in preventative measures to avoid future infestations.

...
Decreased Property Value

Properties infested with termites are less attractive to buyers. Termite inspections and treatments may be required as part of the home-selling process, and sellers are typically required to disclose any past infestations.

...
Health Concerns

While termites do not pose direct health risks to humans, the secondary effects of their presence can. The moisture they introduce supports mold growth, while their droppings and debris can contribute to poor indoor air quality. These factors can easily aggravate allergies and respiratory issues.

Learn more about termite management:

Effective termite management requires a combination of knowledge and practical experience. At GGA Pest Management, we offer expert solutions to protect your property from termite damage. Our approach is thorough, backed by years of expertise in identifying and eradicating termites efficiently and safely.

Causes
  • Moisture: Termites are attracted to moisture because they need water to survive. Areas of your home with excessive moisture can become hotspots for termite activity.
  • Wooden Structures: Because termites feed on cellulose, wooden structures in and around your home are at high risk. Regular monitoring and maintenance of these areas are necessary to prevent infestation.
  • Soil Contact: Termites often enter buildings from the soil, constructing mud tubes to travel between their colony and food sources. Minimizing soil-to-wood contact can reduce the chances of an infestation.
  • Warmth: Termites thrive in warm conditions, making heated homes in cooler climates attractive to these pests year-round.
Treatment

At GGA Pest Management, we use the Sentricon Baiting System, a highly effective and environmentally friendly answer to termite infestations. This has allowed us to significantly reduce the use of liquid termiticides, decreasing our environmental footprint by an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 gallons.

The Sentricon system involves several key steps:

  • Professional Assistance: Hiring a professional pest control service like GGA Pest Management is the best way to eliminate termite infestations. Our experts assess the situation and develop a tailored treatment plan to address the infestation in your home or business.
  • Inspections: Our professionals conduct a detailed termite inspection to identify the specific type of termite and the extent of the infestation. This process is more complicated than other pest inspections and is priced separately from extermination.
  • Sentricon Station Placement: Our pest control professionals strategically place Sentricon bait stations every 10 to 12 feet around your property. These stations contain bait that attracts and eliminates termites.
  • Extermination: Once termites feed on the Sentricon bait, they carry the active ingredient back to their colony, eventually leading to the colony's removal.
  • Continued Monitoring: We monitor the Sentricon stations continuously to detect new termite activity. Regular check-ups allow us to control the termite population and prevent future infestations, protecting your property year-round.
Prevention

Preventative measures can help you manage the severity of your termite infestation before the professionals arrive. These methods include:

  • Moisture Control: Termites are drawn to water. Fixing leaks, ensuring proper drainage, and using dehumidifiers in damp areas like basements can help keep your property dry and less attractive to termites.
  • Termite Barriers: To deter termites, install physical and chemical barriers around your home. This can include treating the soil with termiticides or installing termite shields.
  • Regular Inspections: Schedule annual inspections with GGA Pest Management to catch potential termite problems before they become full-blown infestations.
  • Wood Maintenance: Keeping wood in good condition reduces its appeal to termites. Protect wood surfaces by keeping them well-ventilated, sealing cracks, and immediately replacing decayed or damaged areas.

Different types of termites can infest your property. Correctly identifying the termite species allows our team to apply the most effective treatment methods.

  1. Eastern Subterranean Termites: This species is among the most common and destructive in the United States. They build mud tubes to access food sources and can cause significant structural damage if not controlled. For complete removal, consider our specialized east subterranean pest control services.
  2. Formosan Termites: Formosan termites are known for their aggressive behavior and large colonies. They can rapidly consume wood, causing extensive damage in a short period. Our Formosan termite pest control services will help protect your property before the situation gets out of hand.

Bait vs. liquid treatments.

Liquid treatments

Most liquids on the market today will kill and control termites for an average of 4 to 5 years before new applications are needed.

However, none of the liquid termiticides have been proven through independent research to kill the entire termite colony. The surviving termites remain near your home, ready to attack again when the liquid termiticide barrier is broken.

If there is a break in the barrier placed around the property of just 1/32 of an inch, termites can re-enter your home. Barriers are easily broken due to things like soil movement during wet conditions or gardening near your foundation. Detecting termite reinfestation is difficult—it often only becomes apparent once the damage is done.

Bait treatments

With the Sentricon System, our pest professionals will install bait-filled stations every 10 to 12 feet in the soil around your home. Each station contains 150 grams of synthetic bait material, which has been proven by 60+ research studies to eliminate the termite colony. Sixty grams is all it takes to eliminate an average colony of termites.

With bait, termites will not have the chance to wait around for the barrier to be broken down—they will be dead! This effective method protects your property from termites 24/7, offering unbeatable peace of mind.

Their service came recommended from the local community Facebook page which was a driving factor for me because I wanted to go with somebody who was local. The technician that came out to do the initial inspection and spray did a great job, despite my little dog wanting to eat him. He was prompt upfront with all the pricing and by the looks of everything did an outstanding thorough job.

Mike came out, and explained the entire issue with mice getting into the house. Walked our property, identified entry points and how to fix. He said he could do it or he could explain how I could do. Who does that! He was great and I would recommend him and GGA to anyone having issues with mice or other pests.

Frequently Asked Questions

You might have a termite problem if you notice discarded wings, mud tubes, hollow-sounding wood, or visible damage to wood structures. Termites shed their wings after swarming, and the small tunnels they build to travel between their nest and food sources are called mud tubes. Tapping on wood structures and hearing a hollow sound can indicate that termites have eaten the inside.

The cost of termite extermination can vary based on the size of your home and the extent of the infestation. It's best to contact us for a detailed quote. We’ll assess your situation and provide an estimate.

To get rid of termites for good, you need professional treatment like the Sentricon system used by our team at GGA. Regular inspections and ongoing prevention measures are also important to keep your home termite-free.

Prevent termites by controlling moisture, using termite barriers, scheduling regular inspections, and maintaining wood structures. Fixing leaks and using dehumidifiers in damp areas help control moisture. Installing barriers around your home’s foundation can also help. Regular professional inspections can catch early signs of termites, and keeping wood surfaces dry and well-maintained can prevent infestations.

While DIY methods are available, they often don't completely eliminate termites. Professional termite control services are more effective and provide long-lasting results. For the best results, leave it to the experts.
